| | What Success Means to Me
My son is filling out College appllications and one in particular requested a personal definition of success. His mother asked me to help him with it and I though I would share some of what I came up with.
Success is recognizing that you are doing the best you can every minute of every day based on the circumstances that surround you while dedicating yourself to improving your circumstances at every opportunity.
Success is treating every circumstance and experience, good and bad, as a gift wrapped in foil ready to be opened in order to find the lesson inside that will lead me to my greater good.
Success is not measured by what you have, rather by how many you serve.
Take this opportunity to really decide on your definition of success. You don't have to decide for the next forty-five years. If your definition of success carries you through this month, then work your butt off to achieve it this month. Mastery is repeatable. Whatever you do to achieve success can transfer to anything you ever want to do for the rest of your life - Even if you change your path every 10 years.
Here is what I believe. If you sit still and listen to your heart, you will discover that you already know what you want to do. Your heart won't lie to you. Follow it! And follow it with all you've got. Don't look outwards for direction, listen inward. Don't be afraid to fail. You can do, have, or become anything you set your sights on. You were born perfect, you are perfect still, and you will remain perfect for as long as you live. Don't listen to anyone that leads you in a direction away from your dreams (especially that little voice inside). Be Bold! It takes no more effort to Dream Big than it does to dream small. Accept the course that your heart has chosen for you. Any other course will not lead to fulfillment. Don't be afraid of your dreams. God would not mock you. They are your dreams for a reason. Don't settle for the easier road, or the safer choice. Find your true purpose and set your course in that direction and you will not fail
